The John Powell Collection
John Powell or "JP", as he was known to his friends was an early collector of Khukuri and researcher of all things related to these blades and the Gurkha that wield them. His remarkable passion for these subjects led him to author articles on several forums and to write a rough draft for a comprehensive book titled "The Kukri" which was left unfinished and unpublished due to health issues. His many discussions with like-minded individuals directly led to the foundation of the "Kukri Research and Historical Society", which was the premier website for historical research on Khukuri and Gurkha for many years until its eventual demise as a website around 2014. He was a greatly treasured friend to Bill, Yangdu and Pala and a frequent guest in their homes and on the Himalayan Imports forum on Bladeforums.com. This page is but a tiny snippet of what was once the finest collection of Khukuri and Gurkha war memorabilia in the world.
